BMW M2 Competition

From road car to race car

03 November 2024 | Member stories

By taking part in trackdays, Sebastian Disch learnt to push his BMW M2 Competition to the limit. Through numerous conversions, the vehicle gradually became a racing car that can hardly be distinguished visually from the racing cars in the Nürburgring endurance series.

Since 2019, I have been a proud member of the Pistenclub, an association that organises trackdays on some of the most exciting racetracks in Europe. I started out with my standard BMW M2 Competition at the Hockenheimring, and what can I say - I was immediately hooked. The atmosphere, the adrenaline and the shared experience with like-minded people made this first track day an absolute highlight.

The Pistenclub is not only characterised by its excellently organised events, but also by the incomparable togetherness. You feel welcome straight away, regardless of whether you are a newcomer or already have some track experience. The support provided by experienced participants and the club team for all technical and driving issues is truly outstanding. From choosing the right tyre pressure to optimising the driving line - you get valuable tips and always have the feeling that mutual exchange is encouraged.

The structure and organisation of the events are always excellent. Whether it's organising the groups according to experience or the timing on the track - everything runs smoothly. Every participant has enough time to improve their car and push their limits in a safe environment.

By taking part in trackdays, vehicles can be developed step by step.

My enthusiasm for motorsport grew with every new event, so I gradually converted my car into a real racing car. In the meantime, my M2 Competition is hardly recognisable: A welding cell from Ireco ensures safety, bucket seats from Recaro provide perfect support, and with the Öhlins TTX suspension, the car literally sticks to the road. I converted all the axle parts to Uniball, and with the Drexler differential lock, the power can now be transferred even more precisely to the tarmac. The weight reduction through carbon parts such as the bonnet, doors and boot lid is also clearly noticeable.

However, all these modifications would hardly have been possible without the regular trackdays organised by the Pistenclub. The opportunity to push your own car further and further to the limit in a safe environment is priceless. If you are interested in trackdays, I can only recommend the Pistenclub. It's not just motorsport that is practised here, but also a real community.
